Larry Ashley was born on December 2, 1946, in Chandler, Indiana. After graduating from high school in 1964, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He received an Honorable Discharge on Nov 1, 1968, having achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5).
Larry was also a valued member of Unicoi Detachment 783. Today, 783 helps veterans and their families through its Larry Ashley Veterans Relief Program. Projects include, but are not limited to:

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants (veterans) must have received a Honorable Discharge, a General Discharge (Under Honorable Conditions) or a Medical Discharge. Applicant's DD-214 for verification is required.

The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral and physical development of its members. The program focuses on teaching the values of leadership, teamwork and self-discipline, so its members can live and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
