Unicoi Detachment #783 was chartered on September 19, 1991 and derives its name after the area in which it was founded.
Detachment #783 holds its detachment meetings on the 3rd Saturday each month at 1000 hours at the Major Leon Davenport Veterans Center in Blairsville, GA.

Unicoi Detachment #783 is comprised of both Regular and Associate Members with various backgrounds and life experiences. Its members band together in fellowship for the purpose of supporting Marines, FMF Corpsmen, FMF Chaplains, their families and the community they live in (Towns and Union County).
